Tile backerboards are the proffesionals choice, these top quality insulation boards suited for use with our under tile cable and mat heating systems (not underwood systems). They are high performance reinforced insulation boards made from waterproof extruded polystyrene panels, they have a fibreglass mesh embedded with a polymer modified coating either side which makes them extremley strong, these boards are the choice of the professional installer.
Tile Backer boards should be installed onto concrete/screeded floors using a good quality rapid set flexible tile adhesive, pre mixed adhesives can not be used with these boards, they are avaliable in both 6mm and 10mm
When installing on wooden sub floors our 10mm boards can be fixed down with screws and washers, you can purchase these in our accesories section..
High compresive strength, light weight, exceptional performance and low cost make these an ideal insulation choice for under tile heating on concrete/screeded floors, they are also our high performance insulation boards for our under wood heating mats
If these boards are being used for our under tile heating systems they should be laid out in a brick bond (staggered) style and should be bonded to a clean, dry surface using a water based Flexible Rapid Set tile adhesive. Do not use solvent based or ready mixed adhesive products. Tiling must be carried out using a water based Flexible Rapid Set tile adhesive.
When installing under wood or under carpet heating systems, the boards are laid out in a brick bond (staggered) style and the joints are taped together with duct tape, the heating mat is then rolled out over the boards, this is now ready to install your wood floor or carpet on top (please check suitability with manufacturer first), avaliable in 6mm and 10mm.
Our xps budget boards are ideal for use with our under wood and under carpet heating systems , they must not be used with our under tile systems.
The main difference between the budget and the premium xps boards is the insulation value, the premium boards have a much more effective u value, the budget boards are not reccomended if you are intending to use the underfloor heating system as a main source of heating.
